Panzoomtilt
2004 | Six-Channel Video Installation with No Audio | DVD video
Total Running Time (TRT): varied, video loops continuously | Documentation Running Time: 2:46
Panzoomtilt is a six-channel video installation that categorizes more than fifty hours of travel video footage into sequences of motion. Collected from travelers ranging from package tourists to long-term backpackers, they have been edited into sequences of pans, zooms, and tilts. The disparate travel sites thus become unified sequences of motion that deemphasize the individual locations and undermine the personal narrative, disassociating the images from context and memory.
